The winner of Car of the Year 2020 will be decided by a public vote, find out who is on the list and cast your vote!
Undaunted by the disruption caused by Covid-19, one of the highlights of the classic motoring calendar is to go ahead, but with a new format. The Historic Motoring Awards ceremony was originally scheduled to take place at the Rosewood Hotel in London on 22 October, but will now take place live online and will be available for all enthusiasts to ‘attend’. The event will begin at 17:30 on Thursday 22nd October, you can register to watch the ceremony here .
The Awards will be hosted by racing driver and presenter Amanda Stretton, and will feature live feeds, messages from our sponsors and the globally respected panel of judges, as well as a live people’s vote for the Car of the Year, which will be revealed at the end of the show. The Car of the Year has always been decided by Octane readers but, with voting still happening during the event this year, it will come to a really dramatic conclusion.
Due to the disruption caused by the Covid-19 outbreak, however, there have also been some changes to the format of the awards leading up to the actual ceremony. For a start, some of the categories have been altered to allow for the impact that the coronavirus has had on the classic car calendar and motorsport season. As a result, Motorsport Event of the Year, Motoring Event of the Year and Concours of the Year will not be awarded in 2020. However, they will be replaced by the following new categories:
Apprentice of the Year
Classic Car Ambassador of the Year
The Lockdown Initiative 2020
